Florida Electronic Library Resources: https://www.flelibrary.com/resources.php
Since 2003, the FEL has provided over 190 million articles, e-books, videos and other electronic resources to the citizens of Florida.
How does the Florida Electronic Library (FEL) recognize that I am a Florida resident?
It uses a technology called Geo-IP authentication, which checks the IP address of the device you use to access the resources and compares it to a database of all IPs known to originate within Florida. Once your IP address is validated, you can access FEL online resources without being asked for your library card’s barcode.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and do not share or store any personal information.
I am a Florida resident, but I am traveling outside of Florida. Can I still access the resources?
Yes; however, because you are located outside the automatic access range, you will need the barcode from your public library card.
Can I get a library card online from the FEL?
No. You should contact your local public library for information on obtaining a library card.
Can I use my state college, university or school ID to access the FEL?
No; however, all FEL resources are available through Florida’s state colleges and universities. Contact your institution’s library for assistance.
Even though I am in Florida, I am still being asked for a logon and password to use the FEL.
While Geo-IP should work anywhere in Florida, there are a few exceptions. If you feel you should have open access but are being asked to enter a barcode, please contact Cengage Gale Technical Support at: gale.technicalsupport@cengage.com.
If I need help searching the FEL, where should I go?
You can always ask your local public library. School children can ask their teacher or school librarian, and anyone can Ask a Librarian for assistance Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight (ET), and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (ET).
Who can use the FEL?
Florida residents and visitors with a public library card or who are enrolled in a Florida public school or university. Library administrators at school and universities can contact the FEL program coordinator for access links to use on library websites for institutional-level usage statistics and authentication.
